I have Two Voices in my Head

“No one is more influential in your life than you are, because no one talks to you more than you do.” - Paul Tripp

I have two voices in my head. I call them Success and Quitter. Some people call it angel and devil, or boss voice versus little b*tch voice lol. Whatever you call, we ALL have it. Sometimes the Quitter is so subtle we don't even notice it is him. He likes to make “justifiable” acceptable excuses of why we aren’t achieving our goals.

Quitter Voice:

You can’t do that, you are not smart enough. It is out of your expertise.

I am tired. I should rest instead of going to the gym.

I worked out for 20 min. I'll just cut my workout short today, at least I worked out.

I am too busy with my kids, I don’t have time for myself.

What’s the point? I am not seeing results anyway.

I am running on empty for good reasons, I am making sacrifices for my family.

Success Voice:

You got this! Even if you don’t know how, everything is figure-out-able.

One more rep, why not?

Halfway there, might as well finish.

I can taste victory.

I am building confidence and my reputation with self.

I can create time for my kids, and myself because we are both worth it. I lead by example.

My efforts are paying off.

My cup is full so I can generously give to others without obligation.

Sorry if I stepped on a few toes (not the intention). The point is nobody talks to you more than you talk to yourself. This is why it is so important to be more conscious of your own thoughts. Your Thoughts drive your Actions. And your Actions Create your Results. So, catching your thoughts is the first step to achieving what you desire or being the person you are proud of.

If you're feeling frustrated with where you are currently, and the results you are getting or not getting, maybe it’s time to step back and ask Which THOUGHTS are really driving me? Do my thoughts stimulate courage, hope, and joy? Or do my thoughts stimulate doubt, discouragement, and fear? How well do you cheer yourself on?

Here is a quick way to self evaluate (not self judge) when a thought crosses….GFTAI…

An easy way to remember it is creating a fun backronym…mine is...

Good Faith Takes Action Intentionally

G is for GOAL: Does this thought support my goal or identity?

F is for FEELING: Is this a feeling or a fact?

T is for TRUTH: What is my TRUTH (fact) versus my thoughts (feeling)?

A is for ACTION: How can I reframe and take action on my Truth versus Feeling?

I is for IDENTITY: Which person am I choosing to be Success or Quitter

If you think thoughts are separate from your health, your career success or from how you show up for your family — you’re wrong. It’s the unconscious thoughts that breakdown or build up your mental and physical health. Whether its a health goal or a business goal, thoughts are where I always start with my clients because I know they can achieve ANY goal when their thoughts are aligned with their actions. You don't need results to change your thinking, you need your thinking to change your results.
